So another game I’ve been playing a bit lately is Battlestar Galactica.
This is one of the best themed games around. It’s a long play. About 3 hours on average, more if you don’t know the rules. It’s helps if you have seen the re-themed TV show (shame on you if you haven’t), but it’s not required viewing to like the game.
Like the TV from the 70’s or the 00’s, robots (Cylons) decide to overthrow their human masters and do so. Only one military space ship survives (Galactica), but it is hopelessly outgunned. The Galactica gathers all the humans it can find on other ships and they run like hell to a new planet, but the Cylon’s give chase.
So you can see where the game is going. The players spend the game trying to run from the Cylon’s and find a new home before they run out of food, fuel, etc.
What makes the game is that the Cylons have learned how to make almost perfect looking human Cylons, and some of the human players are actually Cylons that are working against you. The human players are trying to find out who the Cylons are and the Cylons are trying to mess up the humans without being caught.
If you like a good themed game with a more complex ruleset than your average game, this one is highly recommended.
